Are There Aliens
Among Us?
Earth has been around for quite some time and the chances that
there could be aliens among us is not that farfetched in some
respects. When you take into consideration that earth was formed
4.5 billion years ago and then there has been 600 million years of
debris has formed and there has been steady growth and evolution.
There is one theory that says what if there was an organism that
took to the early earth? The earth before humans and life as we
know it, before animals and even plants? When earth was merely
baron and yet to have life abundant on it.
This may sound silly or absurd in some ways. However, when you
think of the life of the earth and the many different variations
of humans, animals, and plants that currently exist and have
existed in the past. It is not really as farfetched as it sounds.
Another being could have their biochemistry and evolved off of
what was left after human and animal use. Just as humans, animals,
and plants adapt to their surroundings and environment, so could
another life form. They could also not need the same things as we
need to live, if that were true again living among us may not be
that farfetched when there are so many uninhabitable parts of the
world for humans and animals, but maybe not for another being.
One scientist named Benner believes that there could be organisms
living among us currently. That they are not DNA based and could
be more primitive in their biochemistry. Some researchers believe
that DNA based life came from RNA based life. RNA life stores both
genetic information but behaves like an enzyme. Benner believes
that this RNA life some 4 billion years ago lived on earth. That
they made food grew, reproduced, and evolved over time and learned
to switch to double stranded DNA to carry genes. The evidence he
says is in our own genes.
Of course an obvious way they could have survived would be to
inhabit the areas that DNA based life cannot live in. It would be
a niche organism; they would be much smaller than DNA based life,
allowing them to fit into areas like rock pores. RNA life could be
flourishing today and we would not even know it. A good example is
looking at a scoop of soil, water, or air and extracting the
entire DNA and then reconstructing entire genes and genomes of
species.
The idea of other life among us interesting and a little
disturbing. To think that other life could be evolving and we do
not even know it seems a little strange. However, at the same time
who knows if they have already evolved and slowly incorporate with
us. There are so many people out there that want to believe in
life on other planets and that there are UFOs and aliens out
there, that this may be just what they are looking for. |
