Roswell, Fact or
Fiction?
On June 14, 1947 a farmer named William "Mac" Brazel who lived 70
miles Roswell had noticed there was debris on the Foster ranch.
Three weeks later on the 4th of July he returned with his wife and
daughter to get some of the wreckage. A few days later he heard
about flying discs and told Sheriff George Wilcox that he had some
of the debris; the Sheriff contacted the Roswell army. Shortly
after the Roswell Army Air Field released a press release on July
8th that said they had recovered a flying disc. However,
Commanding General of the 8th Air Force said they only picked up a
weather balloon and the pictures taken confirmed this and the case
has silent for around thirty years.
Then in 1978 Stanton T. Friedman, an ufologist interviewed Major
Jesse Marcel. Marcel had been involved in the 1947 Roswell
happenings. Marcel was responsible for the first press release and
believed that the military was covering up an alien spacecraft.
Marcel was again interviewed by National Enquirer in February of
1980 and released additional details about the Roswell crash. He
claimed the military had a secret force that recovered aliens and
their spacecrafts. Mortician Glenn Davis than came forward and
confirmed that there was an autopsy done on an alien and he
performed said autopsy.
There has been dozens of books written on the Roswell event that
the authors’ claim they interviewed over ninety witnesses and the
time lines are changed to provoke a military cover up. By the
early nineties more books were written with more witnesses and
again more changes in the time line. Later, an inquiry was
launched by the General Accounting Office into the reports and
books and the Secretary of the Air Force was told to conduct this
investigation. They created two reports, one in 1995 that stated
the debris was from a failed 1947 military project called Project
Mogul and the other report in 1997 that the alien bodies were past
memories from previous wars and anthropomorphic dummies from other
1950 military programs. There were ufologists that supported these
reports and others still believed in the original events reported.
Later, in 2002 the Brazel site got sponsored to find any 1947
debris they may still be there. There was nothing found. However,
the archaeological team from University of New Mexico did find
soil disruptions and these matched witness statements about the
soil. By 2005 ABC showed support for the Air force’s explanation
and later that same year President Bill Clinton stated that the
incident had been looked into and doubted there were any flying
discs. Just recently, an anonymous informant claimed that there
were actually two crashes at Roswell under the name Project Serpo,
both were UFOs and that one had a surviving alien that died 5
years ago
There will always people who will believe and want to believe in
the Roswell incident as more than it really was. But, who knows
really. After so many reports and years gone by there is no way to
know anything for sure. The only thing we do know for sure is that
something happened there and whether it was a failed military
project or an actually UFO crash, because of that there will
always be speculation. |
