Tell Me About UFOs!
We have all heard the term UFO and most may know that it stands
for unidentified flying object. UFO refers to any object which is
in the sky and con not be reasonably identified and still cannot
be identified even after further investigation.
UFOs have been spotted in many different shapes and sizes such as
spheres, equilateral triangles, and diamond shapes. They come as a
clack mass or moving mighty. The study of UFOs, called ufology
uses various ways to categorize these sightings. One such method
was developed by Dr. J. Allen Hynek and it used descriptions to
divide the sightings into six very different categories and are
separated based on a distance between sightings of 500 feet. They
are then further divided up into subcategories based on viewing
descriptions. The three categories he created were Nocturnal
Lights, Daylight Discs, and objects seen by both the eye and radar
at the same time. Later on, Jacques Vallee came up with his own
system to classify UFOs that many other investigators preferred
also. Vallee divides the sightings into six categories with
different subcategories. His method identifies UFOs by shape and
position in the sky, along with whether or not the UFO was moving
at the time of the sighting.
One of the first UFOs ever seen dates all the way back to an
ancient Hindu named Ramayana and he told of complicated flying
machines. The Sumerians used the word annunaki which means those
who came from heaven to earth. Annunaki are found in their ancient
myths and they believed the annunaki were visiting them from the
stars. Egyptians also believed in UFOs and their Pharaoh Thutmose
III who lived during 1450 B.C. gave a description of circles of
fire that were brighter than the sun and about 5 meters in size
were in the sky. They had written that these balls of light
appeared over many days and then disappeared back into the sky. In
99 B.C.E. a Roman writer Julius Obsequens recorded a sighting of a
round object in the sky that travelled from east to west in the
sky. There was a sighting also in Japan as far back as 1235 by
General Yoritsune and his army.
Over the years many theories have developed as to why there are
UFOs or why aliens would want to contact us. Two main theories
that have been labeled are Extraterrestrial Hypothesis and Inter
Dimensional Hypothesis. The first one believes that UFOs come here
from other planets to visit earth. The other theory believes that
UFOs are from the universe's other dimensions and they coexist
separately with us. This theory also believes they have been
around since before recorded time and were always explained as
mythological or supernatural.
Ufology and other believers like will always be looking to the sky
for answers and wondering what is out there. As time goes one
there may be answers, but there probably will be many more
questions. UFO sightings have been going on since the beginning of
time and will probably continue for a very long time here after. |
